“Kenya has begun to flatten COVID-19 curve” President Kenyatta now says

President Uhuru Kenyatta has commended Kenyans for their discipline in seeing the country’s Covid-19 curve flattening. Speaking on Monday during a virtual conference meeting with different stakeholders the president said that the people of Kenya have taken it as a personal responsibility and thus, the decline in new cases in the country.
“I believe we have done remarkably well and that is why we have begun to flatten the curve. But to do better we must remain brutally honest with our approaches because intellectual honesty is critical to building resilience going forward,” he said.
President Uhuru cautioned Kenyans against early celebrations on this achievement terming it as premature and went ahead requesting them to rather remain more cautious than before. According to the president the sure show for the flattening of the curve is because it has reached its inflection point.
“The curve can either flatten and de-escalate or take an upward surge. My appeal to all of you as experts, practitioners and leaders is therefore to deliberate on our position. Although the curve is beginning to flatten could it surprise us by taking an upward surge at this inflection point?” he posed.
Kenyatta however challenged the stakeholders by saying the country to overcome and win over the novel coronavirus there is need for the people of Kenya to develop a positive resilience and move away from tactical to strategic response.
He also pointed out that the country needs a post-mortem 6 months after the first case was announced in the country. This comes at a time when WHO (World Health Organization) has stood out and take a different stand saying that the decline in cases is a result of low tests carried out.
