Senegal cheering squad celebrate after The Lions of Teranga secured a win against Qatar in 2022 world cup
The Qatar national team has been eliminated from the 2022 Qatar World cup after losing on 3–1 goals to The Lions of Teranga, Senegal.
The Aliou Cisse’s led team opened the score sheet after Boulaye Dia put the ball past Meshaal Aissa Barsham on the 41st minute after a mistake from defender Boualem Khoukhi with a bad execution.
After going through a tough first half The Maroons came back to the pitch only to concede a second goal on the 48th minute after a sensational corner kick from Ismail Jacobs landed on Famara Diedhiou’s head to give Senegal a second goal.
Although Felix Sanchez’s boys strived to get a consolation goal from Ghana born striker Mohammed Muntari on the 78th minute, the Senegalese forward Ahmadou Bamba Dieng’ put a smiling face to Senegal supporters after netting the third goal.
The Qatar team Maroons have now been the first team to be eliminated from the world cup, after opening up the tournament at Al Bayt Stadium on 20th November.
For Senegal to qualify to round of 16, their tactician Aliou Cisse has to ensure they win the match against Ecuador on 29th as Qatar will be looking to secure their first 2022 world cup win against Netherlands.
