WE’RE EXPECTED TO BE UNITED, SAYS PRESIDENT RUTO

President William Ruto has promised to do whatever it takes to unite Kenya, at the National Prayer Breakfast, themed Reconciliation between God and Men, held on 7th June at Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi.

Speaking during this meeting which was skipped with opposition leaders, President Ruto said that unity is necessary to promote the welfare, dignity and freedom of the Kenyans.

“We are expected to be united by a vision of a strong, secure and prosperous Kenya, where our people live in prosperity, freedom and happiness. These are proper and legitimate expectations,” he said.

This came as the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua insisted that even as the country seeks reconciliation after last year’s hotly contest Presidential election, opposition leaders must reconcile with the truth that William Ruto is the President of Kenya.

“Unlike last year’s prayer breakfast which was poisonous and full of hatred, this year’s is an indication that the country is ready for unity for the sake of the people of Kenya,” he added.

Leaders of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition led by Raila Odinga, former president and Azimio Council Chairman , Uhuru Kenyatta, Odinga running mate Martha Karua, ,Wiper party leader , Kalonzo Musyoka, Former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugine, Executive Council Chairman Wycliffe Oparanya skipped the event.
