A street Christmas festival has been planned for Kisumu, Kenya, to celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus, and citizens are eager to participate.

City Manager Abala Wanga said that from 8pm on Friday, the Jomo Kenyatta expressway and the Oginga Odinga streets would be blocked to all vehicular traffic in the area.

According to Wanga, the event would be hosted by a number of organizations, such as the Kenya Breweries Limited as well as Coca-Cola.

A children’s play area is being planned as families gather to celebrate Christmas, he says.

Locals will also be entertained by a number of Luo artists, with the city’s chief of staff noting that security would be stepped up.

“Kisumu’s streets will be closed from the 24th to the 25th.” The roadway will be closed to traffic for a Christmas celebration put on by the governor. We’ve compiled a list of 24 eateries, 11 wineries, and more. Also on hand is a children’s play area and four musicians. “We’re inviting everyone in Kisumu to join us for a Hollywood-style street party,” added Wanga.
