Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Friday held a private meeting with Azimio la Umoja coalition party leader Raila Odinga in Mombasa.
The details of the tête-à-tête have yet to be revealed by either of the two or their respective communication teams but credible sources have told Citizen Digital that the pair sat together and conversed for a couple of minutes.
“We have tremendous respect for our senior citizens. I was delighted this morning to have a tete a tete with our senior citizen former Prime Minister Rt Hon Raila Amolo Odinga in Mombasa,” the DP said on his official Facebook account.
DP Gachagua arrived in Mombasa County on Wednesday to attend the first day of an orientation workshop meant to induct newly-elected governors into President William Ruto’s regime.
The three-day event, which will conclude on Saturday, will culminate in the election of the Council of Governor’s top brass.
Raila, on the other hand, jetted into the country on Thursday after spending a week on vacation, together with his family, in neighbouring Zanzibar.
Despite missing the swearing-in ceremony of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, whose candidature he vouched for in the days leading up to the August polls, Raila graced a luncheon that followed the inauguration where he lauded Nassir for his victory at the ballot.
