Aisha freed on a cash bail

Malindi MP, Aisha Jumwa has been freed on a Ksh 2million cash bail this morning after denying charges on misappropriation of Ksh 19million CDF (Constituency Development Fund). The vocal member of parliament surrendered herself to the police on Sunday,30.

The MP was accused alongside six others directly involved in the running of the fund, Omar Wachu (CDF Account Manager), Bernard Riba Kai, Kennedy Otieno Onyango, Sophia Saidi Charo, and Margaret Faith Kalume who are members of the Malindi Tender Evaluation Committee as well as Robert Katana Wanje a Director of Multserve Contractors Limited.

Mombasa Chief Magistrate Edna Nyaloti released them on a cash bail after reducing the bond for the co-accused from Ksh. 10million to Ksh. 2million with an alternative Ksh. 500,000 cash bail. The seven have been charged with thirteen offenses including fraud in procurement, forgery, and money laundering.

The magistrate set September 21 as the date for the second hearing of the case against the seven.
