Three people died on Tuesday, May 16th after a lorry transporting gumboots fell off from a flyover in Kisumu and landed on a tuk-tuk.

The accident took place at the busy underpass connecting Kisumu Central Business District and the outskirts of Lakeside City.

“Alikua anamake turn alafu nikaona gari iki-roll. Nikaona dereva wa tuk-tuk ameumia, alafu driver wa trailer alikua amekufa already.’’ Says a witness.

Due to an increase in the number of traffic accidents at the fly-over, the Kisumu residents have urged the county governor Anyang’ Nyong’o to construct a separate road for the lorries so that travellers at the flyover may be save.

“Tuko na huzuni kwa sababu trela zinaua watu kila mara. Tunaomba gavana wetu atafutie trailers njia mbadala ili wasafiri wawe salama.’’ Says a Kisumu resident.

The residents have also requested the county government to elect significant road signs which will guide and warn drivers to be super careful along the way.
