13 PEOPLE EYE THE HOLTLY CONTESTED KISII COUNTY SPEAKER SEAT

The third county assembly of Kisii will hold its first sitting on Thursday 22nd as the 71 members of the assembly will elect the assembly speaker.

Following the gazettement of the sitting by Governor Paul Simba Arati, the exercise will start at 9 am as the first business of the house will be swearing in of elected and nominated MCAs.

Thereafter the members will elect the speaker who will chair county proceedings in the next 5 years.

According to a press release from the county Clerk James Nyaoga, 13 people are on the ballot in an election slated for Thursday 22nd.

Those who got the opportunity are among them former Nyaribari Masaba MP aspirant Dr. Laban Chweya, Charles Ndege Mogaka, Christopher Siambe Amis, David Orioro Obuya, Dr. Phillip Machuki Nyanumba, Elizaphano Angima, Erick Janganya, Gideon Nyambati, Japhet Oginga Nyakundi, Joshua Mangabo Momanyi, former aspiring woman-rep Julie Nyanchama Nyamao, Nyabuto Kevin Mamboleo, and Thomas Kerongo Maatwa.

The hotly contested position saw 27 people pick nominations papers with an interest in getting the golden chance to serve as a speaker.
