In an attempt to highlight his record of progress, President Uhuru Kenyatta erupted in a tirade against his deputy, William Ruto, accusing him of playing a game of deception and division.
When asked about Ruto’s role in passing out ill-gotten gains to Kenyans, Kenyatta replied the deputy president never mentioned him by name.
It’s known as ‘The Third Sagana,’ a conference of Mt. Kenya leaders and delegates convened by Kenyatta at the Sagana State Lodge.
Aside from laying out the president’s reasons for supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga’s State House quest, the meeting was also designed to explain the president’s disagreement with his deputy, William Ruto.
At the ‘Handshake,’ Mr. Kenyatta accused Mr. Ruto of lying, alleging that Mr. Odinga was aware of the whole process.
With Raila, I made sure my deputy was well-informed.” Angry: “He was the last person I spoke to before going to Harambee House,” stated the Head of State, who was upset over the handshake. That’s why he’s here now to inform you that I lied to him.”
After the handshake, he underlined that it was for the sake of peace and not for re-election.
Assuming God’s will, I intend to serve out my term, hand the nation over to those who care about the country, and we’ll meet in the streets, he said.
He then turned his attention to religious leaders, accusing them of misleading the people by being dazzled by plundered monies.
Don’t let our people be deceived by religious leaders. The truth will set you free. All of us have a deep love for God, and we contribute what we can. Do not accept money that has been stolen so that you may mislead others, he said.
Arror and Kimwarer dams were brought up by President Trump, who would not hold back in his investigation.
“How can you, as religious leaders, accept Ksh.2 million in bribes to deceive our people about Ksh.3 billion intended for dam development in Elgeyo Marakwet? He said, “You’d rather take Ksh.100 from me than Ksh.1 million that I’ve stolen.”
Since becoming office, Mr. Kenyatta has claimed to have increased the country’s GDP.
Raila’s economy would be worth at least Ksh.13 trillion when he leaves office, he said. So you’re saying, “And then you claim I’ve done nothing?”
