TWO ARRESTED ,THREE ESCAPE IN MOMBASA BANK ROBBERY

Police in Mombasa County have arrested two suspected armed robbers and are still pursuing three others who escaped on foot on Friday afternoon after a bank robbery went wrong
According to Mombasa sub-county commander Maxwell Agoro the police were tipped about a bank robbery that was aimed at Equity bank in the Mombasa CBD.
He added that the police swung into action before the gung could commit the crime leading into a chase along the Jomo Kenyatta Avenue.
“At about 1300hours on 13th Tuesday policemen were tipped off about a planned robbery. A motor vehicle was being used by the five suspected robbers,” said Agoro.
Agoro added that the officers attempted to deflate the vehicle’s tyres before it veered off the road and hit a tuktuk parked by the roadside.
Three of the vehicle’s occupants, one of whom was armed escaped on foot.
The injured suspects have been taken to hospital for treatment ,as investigations continue.
