SHA Introduces Taifa Care HMIS to Streamline Claims for All Level 4 Public Hospitals.

Written by on July 1, 2026

The Social Health Authority (SHA) has deployed the Taifa Care Health Management Information System (HMIS) for all Level 4 public healthcare facilities to strengthen digital healthcare management and streamline claims processing nationwide. In a notice issued on June 30, 2026, SHA stated that claims processing services previously handled through the SHA Provider Portal have transitioned to Taifa Care HMIS after system testing and approval by both SHA and the Digital Health Agency (DHA). The migration took effect from midnight on June 29, 2026, and under the new arrangement, Level 4 public facilities are required to submit new claims exclusively through the Taifa Care HMIS platform. SHA also assured that claims submitted through the Provider Portal before the transition will remain securely in the system and will continue to be processed without interruption, describing the move as part of broader efforts to enhance Kenya’s digital health ecosystem by improving efficiency, security, and service delivery.
