In advance of the August general elections, Narok County Governor Samuel Ole Tunai has defected to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
A former member of the Jubilee Movement, the county’s chief executive, announced the change on Friday.
William Ruto, the UDA’s deputy president, welcomed Tunai to the party at his home in Karen.
The Governor made it clear that his decision was motivated by his faith in DP Ruto’s presidential campaign and the country’s long-term goals.
The people of this nation have unanimously agreed that you are the best person to lead it forward. Tunai stated he was completely behind Tunai’s vision for Kenya and its people.
That is why I’m running for the Senate and encouraging the people of Narok to vote for me and Patrick Ntutu, the governor of the state of Kenya, as their representatives.”
Tunai’s decision was applauded by DP Ruto, who was certain that he would win the president in August.
The governor, Tunai, deserves praise for his efforts to engage with all the regions and bring them on board.” It’s time for Narok and his sasa squad to get together, stated the DP.
Former CAS Patrick Ntutu and Narok North MP Moitalel ole Kenta, who is standing on an ODM party ticket, are now in the running for governor of the county, hoping to replace Tunai.
Also competing for the Senate seat are Salaton Tompo, Kilgoris MP Gideon Konchellah, land rights campaigner Meitamei Ololdapash and Nairobi-based journalist Andrew ole Sunkuuli in Tunai’s senatorial campaign.”
