Nandi Residents Demand Felix Koskei’s Resignation Over Alleged Political Interference.

Head of Public Service Felix Koskei is under pressure after a section of Nandi County residents called for his resignation on July 15, accusing him of engaging in national and local politics instead of focusing on his responsibilities as a public servant.

The demands were made at gatherings held in different parts of Nandi County, where residents expressed frustration over what they described as inadequate development despite the region’s significant representation in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

The residents also said they should be allowed to decide for themselves whom to support in the 2027 General Election without political influence, arguing that they want leaders who will prioritise development in the region.

“It is unethical for any administrative leader to endorse and impose a leader upon the people of Nandi County. For that reason, we want Koskei to focus on his work as the Head of Public Service rather than perpetuating politics of division in the region,” one of the residents said.

“We have five years between elections. These leaders should focus on serving us first, and when the time comes, we will decide for ourselves whom to support, instead of being treated as if we cannot make our own decisions,” another resident said.

As Head of Public Service and Chief of Staff, Koskei plays a central role in coordinating the implementation of President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

He oversees the work of Principal Secretaries and has led high-profile inspections and launches of government projects, including the Affordable Housing Programme, as part of efforts to drive the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development agenda.

The demands also come amid heightened scrutiny over the involvement of senior State officials in political activities ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.

In an eight-page letter to IEBC Chairperson Erastus Ethekon dated July 14, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused several Cabinet Secretaries and Principal Secretaries of participating in campaigns for the by-election.

Those named included Lands CS Alice Wahome, ICT CS William Kabogo, Roads CS Davis Chirchir and Tourism CS Rebecca Miano.

Gachagua also listed Principal Secretaries Nixon Korir, Patrick Mariru, Alex Wachira, Joseph Mbugua, Mary Muthoni and Ann Wang’ombe.

He alleged that they were involved in campaign activities in Ol Kalou Constituency.
