United have appointed Ajax manager Erik ten Hag to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick at the conclusion of this season.
It’s a three-year contract with the possibility of a 12-month extension for the 52-year-old. “It is a tremendous honor to be chosen manager of Manchester United and I am extremely delighted by the job ahead,” he said in a statement on United’s website. This wonderful club has a long and storied history, and I am motivated to build a squad capable of winning the championships they deserve.
“Even though I know leaving Ajax will be painful, I can guarantee our supporters that I will give my all to see this season through before moving to Manchester United.”
In addition, John Murtough, Manchester United’s football director, said: “Erik ten Hag has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting and successful coaches during his first four years at Ajax, earning praise for both his team’s attractive, attacking style of play and his dedication to developing young players.”
“Erik’s long-term vision for bringing Manchester United to the level of competition we want, as well as his ambition and commitment to accomplish it, impressed us much before to his hiring.
‘We wish Erik all the best for the rest of the season at Ajax, and we look forward to bringing him to Manchester United this summer,’ said the club in a statement.
