MAN DIES AFTER TREE HE WAS CUTTING FALLS ON HIM

A man from Gekomu village, Kisii County has died after being hit by a tree he was cutting.
A 30 years old Josephat Maeba was helping to cut down a tree early morning on Thursday 25 May 2023, but unfortunately it fell on him causing a traumatic head injury.
“We were pulling a tree and when it was falling, Josephat tried dodging it but it fell on him,” says Ronald Baraza a witness.
The victim was rushed to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) immediately after the incident where he was confirmed dead.
The number of accidents reported in recent days due to tree cutting is increasing, hence residents have been urged tobe extra carefilly while cutting trees and also to plant other trees to increase forest cover.
