COVID-19 POSITIVITY RATE SHOOTS TO 24.4%

The Ministry of Health said on Sunday that 1,372 people tested positive for COVID-19 out of 5,635 people tested in the previous 24 hours, or a 24.4 percent positivity rate.
As of now, there are 263,707 confirmed positive cases and 2,930,320 tests have been performed.
According to the Ministry of Health, 1260 Kenyans and 112 foreigners, 699 girls and 673 males, ranging in age from five months to ninety years, were admitted.
74 people have recovered, 24 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 50 from other health-care facilities, according to the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
The total number of people now stands at 249,296. On Sunday, there were no reported fatalities. Kenya has lost 5,353 people to the virus.
Mutahi Kagwe, the Health Cabinet Secretary, said that 278 persons are now hospitalized in various health facilities, while 4,996 people are enrolled in the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
“There are 14 patients on ventilator support in the intensive care unit.”
“There are seven people on supplemental oxygen and seven people on ventilator support,”
According to the CS, as of December 18, 2021, a total of 8,861,039 vaccines have been administered throughout the country.
A total of 5,288,176 people were partially inoculated, while 3,572,863 people were totally immunized. Only 56.3 percent of individuals who had taken the first dosage were able to take in the second dose.
Adults who were entirely immunized constituted 13.1 percent of the population. The government intends to vaccinate 27,246,033 people in total.
