BONFIRES AS SABA SABA PROTESTS KICK OFF

Bonfires have been lit in various towns including Kisii town, Mombasa and Kisumu ahead of Azimio party Saba Saba rally.
As at 11:30AM, the fresh round of anti-governmental demonstrations had began.
In Kisii town, early today locals joined by University students including boda boda riders led the rally as they played cat and mouse chase with the police as they kept setting tires on fire to block roads. All entry points to the town were locked and few police officers deployed had a difficult time controlling the crowd.
A roundup spot check by Radio Vuna found that many businesses remained closed in Kisii town.
Security has been heightened in various parts of the country area of the planned Saba Saba rally by the Azimio la Umoja coalition.
Several road blocks have been mounted at strategic points to take action on the protesters who will attempt to access the Nairobi Central business district
In Kisumu, residents began the anti-government protests along major roads, chanting and raising placards against the high cost of living.Bon
