A 55 year old woman has been brutally killed in Mwanyakundi village, Kitutu Central sub county, Kisii County.
Her badly mutilated body was found on Thursday, 9th inside a Napier grass plantation, four days after reported missing, an incident that has left area residents in utter disbelief.
Francis Angwenyi Ondieki, who is husband to the deceased narrated with pain the incident which led to the death of his lover.
“My wife just left the house without communicating and I thought that she had left to our relatives place but after asking around, I didn’t find her. I later on received this sad news from our neighbors about her body, and on reaching there I confirmed it was my wife,” explained Angwenyi.
Despite having no family misunderstanding, he further narrated that upon receiving the news, he informed his family.
However, the man had sold a piece of land a few days earlier and there have been speculations that there could be a link between that and the death of his wife.
“I sold a piece of land a few days ago but I did it alone without involving my wife. I had plans to share the money with her and I don’t think that selling that land had anything to do with her death. From the look of things it seems like her body was thrown here the previous night because I had been working in the plantation a day earlier,” he added.
Lucia Kemunto, who is a sister in law to the deceased also decried the heinous act stating that the late apart from being her relative was also her good friend. Sadly for her she was not aware of her missing.
“She was the wife to my young brother and she could come over to my place and we shared a lot. I woke up to screams this morning and people were shouting saying that someone had been found dead, only to find that it’s my sister in law. She was a good lady and was never at loggerheads with anyone,” said Lucia.
Gladys Manyangi one of the residents also expressed her grief a result on the unfortunate happening, saying tension has been created in the region more especially among women.
As the body of the late lays at the morgue, residents have pleaded with the government to fast track the footprints of the murders and take the necessary actions on culprits.
This incident comes even as other crime has been on the rise in Kisii region especially those involving brutal murders. The inhabitants have been urged to take care and report any suspicious cases to local authorities as well as being their brothers’ keeper.
