Residents of Inani village in Bomachoge Borabu were left in shock after a middle-aged man was reportedly lynched and burnt by residents.
The man was accused of raping and killing an elderly woman.
The elderly woman was found dead in the area. Residents said she showed signs of assault.
After the news spread, anger grew in the village. Some residents said the man was responsible for the crime. A mob attacked him and burnt him.
Police later arrived at the scene. They took the bodies of the man and the woman to the mortuary.
Police have started investigations into the incident. They have also warned residents against taking the law into their own hands.
The village is now calm but residents are shocked by what happened.
