Nyamira Women Rep Jerusha Momanyi among the Kenyan Women Leaders who have Raised Alarm Over Rising Child Killings in Kenya.
A growing number of Kenyan women leaders have spoken out against the disturbing rise in child killings across the country, urging swift government intervention to protect vulnerable minors.
Nyamira County Woman Representative Jerusha Momanyi condemned the recent killing of five-year-old Bravin Mokaya in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira. Speaking at Geturi Senior School in Kitutu Chache North, Kisii County, during the commissioning of the institution, Momanyi described the incident as tragic and called for urgent action to safeguard children.
Her remarks echoed those of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who, while addressing residents in Dandora on Sunday, urged the government to intensify efforts to curb the alarming trend. Wanga emphasized that the protection of children is a fundamental duty that must not be neglected.
Similarly, Suba North MP Milly Odhiambo has been vocal in criticizing the rise in such incidents. She has consistently called for accountability from law enforcement agencies and urged both national and county governments to strengthen child protection frameworks and community awareness programs.
The united stance of these leaders underscores the gravity of the situation and amplifies calls for immediate government action. Their collective voices reflect growing public concern and demand for justice, as communities grapple with fear and outrage over the loss of innocent lives.
