Rising Starlets Step Up Preparations for Ethiopia Showdown

The Rising Starlets have intensified their training at the Ulinzi Sports Complex as they gear up for their return leg against Ethiopia in the Under-20 World Cup qualifiers this Sunday at the same venue.
The Kenyan side carries a slim advantage going into the match, having secured a 1-1 draw in Addis Ababa in the first leg. The away goal gives the Rising Starlets a slight edge, but coach Jacqueline Juma has emphasized the need for her charges to address weaknesses exposed during the earlier encounter.
The team has received a timely boost with the return of goalkeeper Mercy Akoth of Vihiga Queens, who missed the first leg due to international commitments. Akoth was part of the Safari Cup Chapadimba All-Stars squad that toured Spain while her teammates battled Ethiopia.
Signs of progress have already been visible, with the Starlets defeating Ulinzi Starlets 2-0 in a friendly match on Wednesday afternoon at the Ulinzi Complex. The friendly served as both a confidence booster and a tactical rehearsal ahead of Sunday’s high-stakes clash.
Ethiopia is expected to jet into the country on Friday setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting and decisive fixture.
