The Council said moving the service online is intended to strengthen accountability in the certification process by ensuring that medical certificates are verified directly through authorised practitioners.
Medical certificate attestation currently takes between seven and 14 business days under the manual system. KMPDC said the new online platform is expected to improve access to the service while significantly reducing the time taken to process attestation requests.
The Council added that the transition forms part of its broader efforts to digitise services, strengthen transparency and accountability, and enhance the reliability of medical documentation issued in Kenya.
The announcement comes as government institutions continue embracing digital service delivery to improve efficiency and reduce reliance on manual processes across various sectors.
In recent months, the government has accelerated the digitisation of public services, including the rollout of digital birth certificates and preparations for a new digital national identity card aimed at simplifying identity verification and access to government services.
The transition is also expected to reduce paperwork and minimise opportunities for document fraud by creating a secure electronic verification system managed through the Council’s online portal.
KMPDC urged medical practitioners and other stakeholders to familiarise themselves with the new platform before full implementation begins, adding that support will be available throughout the transition period.
The Council said it remains committed to modernising healthcare regulation through technology, expressing confidence that the online attestation system will deliver faster, more secure and more efficient services for both practitioners and the public.
