Governor Sang: Raila Is Causing Instability to Derail The Government

Written by on February 6, 2023

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has censured Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga over the recent public rallies he has been steering, noting that he is achieving nothing but crippling the nation’s growth.

According to Governor Sang, the rallies are creating unsoundness in the political expanse, therefore, creating a redundant obstacle for President William Ruto in implementing his development plan.

Speaking on Sunday after a church service at St Francis Catholic church in Mosoriot, Nandi county, Sang questioned Raila on how exactly he plans to thwart the government if he, allegedly, failed to do so during President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term.

“What you are only succeeding in doing is to mess up the political environment of our nation so that you create instability for purposes of derailing this nation,” he said.

“If you didn’t succeed to derail the government when you had a handshake with the former president, how are you going to derail this government in this day and age when you are in opposition and we have William Ruto in government.”

He however acknowledged that Raila has every right to hold the public rallies but should do so with honourable motives.

“…the rallies that you are doing today and the many rallies that you have planned across the country and we are telling you there is no problem in that,” he said.

On his part, President Ruto has maintained that he will not be distracted by the sideshows and will continue executing his mandate.

“Ile sitaki ni wanibebee ati nishughulike na mambo yao na niwache mambo ya Wakenya milioni 50…hiyo Hapana,” said the President.

Raila has, during the rallies, reiterated that he does not recognise the Ruto and Deputy Rigathi Gachagua government, demanding that they should resign.

He has also warned the head of state against underestimating him.

Raila has also announced that he will be taking his rallies to the counties in the coming days.
