Alicia Augello Cook alias Alicia Keys was involved in various church choirs in her childhood. This catalyzed her piano proficiencies and singer-songwriter expertise.

Beyoncé Giselle Knowles Correy alias Beyoncé was enrolled in her church’s choir particularly in the St. John’s United Methodist Church by her father Mr. Matthew Knowles at the tender age of only six years. He also managed the Destiny’s Child before they parted ways.

Her vocal styles, stage management presence, and musical prowess were honed in the church. Brandy Rayana Norwood alias Brandy embarked on her musical journey by first singing in the church’s choir at the tender age of only two years.

Britney Jean Spears sang in the Baptist Church’s Choir while a child before joining the Mickey Mouse Club.

Diana Ernestine Earle Ross first sang in her grandfather’s church, Bessemer Baptist Church in Alabama at the tender age of only seven years. Her stage name is Diana Ross.

Eric Marlon Bishop alias Jamie Foxx had a strict Baptist upbringing skillfully played the piano and was a part-time choir director in his church.

Edward Christopher Sheeran also known as Ed Sheeran was a choir boy in a church’s choir in his hometown of Suffolk before becoming an eminent singer and songwriter.

Faith Rene’e Evans has been a key figure in the Rhythm and Blues scene working with Bad Boys’ Records and hits like, “All Night Long,” and “Love Like This Before,” being her contributions. She performed in Newark’s Emmanuel Baptist Church when she was a toddler. Faith Evans is her stage name.

Kirk Dewayne Franklin’s early experiences in church choirs greatly catapulted his innovative approach to Gospel music; blending traditional Gospel with contemporary sounds. His music name is Kirk Franklin.

John Roger Stephens also known as John Legend was heavily involved in the church’s choir while growing up. His background in Gospel music harnessed and refurbished his suave and soulful musical style.

Justin Randall Timberlake alias Justin Timberlake began belting out songs in the choir as his dad was its director. This was before his time in the Mickey Mouse’s Club and with the N Sync.

Mariah Angela Carey sang in church choirs in her childhood. This honed her musical prowess. She is Rhythm and Blues songstress Mariah Carey.

Robert Sylvester Kelly began singing in his local church at the tender age of only eight years. His stage name is R. Kelly.

At the tender age of only nine, his mother, Mrs. Jonnetta Patton, enrolled him in the church’s choir. His mother and grandmother recognized his talent and moved to Atlanta to further his career. He is the Rhythm and Blues Acme Usher Raymond IV his stage name being Usher.

Whitney Elizabeth Houston’s puissant, verdant, and ineffable voice was honed and refurbished to the innermost core in the church’s choir at the New Hope Baptist Church Newark in New York City. Her Gospel roots are evident in her music throughout her musical career.
