Nairobi’s Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested the main suspect in the murder of famous businessman “Mchele Boss” on Nairobi’s Mirema Drive, a week after investigators began looking for him.

At the DCI Headquarters, Dennis Karani Gachoki, who talked exclusively to Citizen TV on Monday and denies killing Samuel Mugota, said that the two of them had only met two times, once at the Nairobi airport and once in Meru.

As a result, he has been accused of accepting money that is said to have been obtained via fraud in a court case.

On Monday, May 16, Gachoki savagely executed Muvota near Mirema Drive in Nairobi’s Roysambu neighborhood with a weapon taken from an inebriated police at a famous Mombasa joint in November 2020, according to detectives on Friday.

Hours after the murder, forensic cyber investigators were able to utilize Gachoki’s phone to pinpoint his location to Burnt Forest in Uasin Gishu but the trail went dead with sleuths of the belief that the culprit successfully escaped to a nearby nation.

Gachoki has supposedly been on the DCI’s radar for quite some time due to his suspected role in the ‘Pishori’ syndicate but attempts to reel him in have been ineffective.

Since the thug, who is well-heeled, encourages renegade officers who tip him off after an operation for his arrest has been initiated, investigators’ efforts to catch him have been ineffective,” said the DCI in a statement.

“In one case, Gachoki’s accomplices’ texted him only minutes before his arrest, putting a wrench in the works of a careful operation that had taken months to put together.”

Some of Gachoki and Muvota’s ‘Pishori’ drug-smuggling ladies were recruited by Gachoki and Muvota before Gachoki died over their disagreements over how to distribute profits from that enterprise.

According to the DCI, This and other grievances are alleged to have led to a nasty breakup resulting to Monday’s daylight murder of Samuel Mugoh Muvota.
