PHYSICAL EDUCATION TO BE MADE COMPARABLY IN KENYA UNDER CBC EDUCATION

Education Cabinet secretary George Magoa has done it again just few days after hitting hard the parents by giving the heads teachers and principals a go ahead to send the kids home after resuming school immediately from half term holiday for their ignorance in paying fees for their kids. Yesterday 0n the 9th of June 2021 at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development Magoa Re-Introduced Physical Education (PE) where he launched a new policy guiding its role in the Education curriculum.
He said the policy identifies how important sports are and the values of the achievements they have brought to the government over the years in the field of sports. “Implementation of physical education and sports policy will enhance in promoting of realization of national goals in the education sector, for its also aligned to the competence based curriculum (CBC) which provides art and sports as one of the career pathways,” said Magoa
He also promised to work hand in hand with all ministries and department to implement the new physical education and sports policy and will mainstream P.E and sport in all learning activities. This was to speared head as the country continues with its gradual roll out the CBC, which puts emphasis on competences on talents. It’s important to education and it would provide learners with 21st century skills like critical thinking, communication skills and collaborate learning together with problem –solving where learners join secondary schools based on their performance in the continuous assessment test (Cats)and final test in grade 6.
