The county government of Kirinyaga is carrying out public health education and decontaminating homesteads where cases of cholera have been reported.

Speaking in Kibirigwi Primary School in Ndia during Madaraka Day celebrations Tobiko said seven cases have in the course of the last month been detected in Gacharu and in Ndia constituency and Mwea Constituency.

“I appealed to members of the public to ensure that they observe the required hygiene practices such as washing hands with soap and running water, consuming treated or boiled water, eating well-cooked and hot food and proper waste disposal,” he said.

Kirinyaga residents have been urged to join hands and fight cholera.
