The city’s gubernatorial debate is set to happen on Monday of date 11 July at the catholic university of east Africa located in Karen.
Nairobi county politics are not just like any other county’s politics. It’s a county that hosts all tribes, the core center of industrialization, and can influence the whole nation in one way or another and that’s why the gubernatorial debate is spearheaded by the presidential debate secretariat .“We are all set for the Nairobi Gubernatorial Debate. Tune in to the LIVE debates on your favorite station this Monday from 5 PM,” Machoka the presidential debate secretariat said.
Residents of Nairobi were allowed to send the questions that were directed to the aspirants before Saturday of date 9. The aspirants are tasked to answer the questions from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. The event is jointly organized by the media council of Kenya(MCK), the Kenya editors guild(KEG), and the media owners of Kenya. (MOA)
The event will be then followed by the presidential running mates which will be held on July 19, followed by the main Presidential Debate on July 26 in line with the August 9th election.
“We are delighted to confirm to the country that those preparations are now in their final leg and today, we are announcing key details about the debates which will
all take place this month, July 2022,” Head of the Debates Secretariat Clifford Machoka said in a statement.
All the debates are expected to be peaceful and will be aired on various tv and radio channels in Kenya. All the aspirants are expected to attend, it’s an event that has been taking place since 2013 and has been a culture.“For the last year, the Media Owners Association, the Media Council of Kenya, and the Kenya Editors’ Guild in partnership with other key stakeholders have been preparing for the Election Debates, which have become a tradition in our election cycles since 2013. We are delighted to confirm to the country that those preparations are now in their final leg and today, we are announcing key details about the debates which will all take place this month, July. The second tier will have candidates who have polled above 5 percent in the same opinion surveys. It will be aired at 8:00 pm and end at 9.30 pm.” The presidential debate secretary said.
“We commit that the questions will be forwarded to the moderators who will select and endeavor to have as many questions as possible answered by the Nairobi Gubernatorial candidates during the debates,” Machoka the secretariat added.
