On Thursday of 30th June, Ruto seemingly happy launched his manifesto at the Kasarani grounds where he shade more light on his bottom-up economic model.

He focused mostly on bringing a breakthrough in business and bringing more reforms in kenyas economy. He also promised to accelerate job creation and leave no one behind in the empowerment process. As the Kenya kwanza coalition, they anchored their manifesto on five pillars that include Agriculture and Food Security, MSMEs and Financing, Housing, Health Access, and ICT and Creative Economy. He added that he would start from the common citizen in his work plan .“In addition, managing and making devolution [work] effectively, fostering nationality and meeting the expectations of citizens under a newly elected president who signifies a change from a top-down economic regime structure to a bottom-up one. This will have important implications for Kenya’s future economic and social conditions,” he said

According to him, the trickle-down economic model isn’t sufficient for it only benefits a few individuals. “Triple down economic model has failed because personal interests override the public interest where selective interest in policy and legislation supersedes the common good. It is based on an assumption that the market is properly governed and regulated. But most often, the market is captured by cartels driving it to monopolistic and duopolistic tendencies,” said Ruto. He added that he wants an economy that involves all citizens in identifying their priorities and ensuring that their needs are met. A summary of his ten-point pledges below

1. Implementing Mandatory national insurance (NHIF).

2. Establishment of new level 6 hospitals in six new sites and hiring an initial 20,000 health care workers.

3. Constructing a 100,000-kilometer fiber optic connectivity network.

4Bridging the current teacher shortage gap within two financial years.

5. Doubling the amount of money allocated to the school feeding program.

6. Appointing all judges nominated by JSC for appointment to the Court of Appeal within seven days including the ones left out by the current government.

7. Investing at least Sh250 billion in five years effective to boost Agriculture and food security.

8. Allocating Sh50 billion annually to provide MSMEs with reliable access to credit.

9. Building 250,000 new affordable houses every year through a public-private partnership.

10. Setting up a settlement fund to acquire land and resettle up to one million landless families.

Ruto who involved questions in his manifesto launching answered a crucial question asked by one of the university students about funding which seemed to bring relief to students. He promised to merge HELB, Tvet, and the university funding Board under a National Skill & Funding Council. A decision that could see the students through their higher education smoothly.
