IS Monkeypox with us already?

Monkeypox is caused by the monkeypox virus, a member of the same family of viruses as smallpox, although it is much less severe and chances of infection are low.

It occurs mostly in remote parts of central and west African countries, near tropical rainforests

AS per the kenyan government,monkey pox isnt yet with us.we had a close interview with mochache the health ps and had this to say .”Neither Kenya nor our sister countries in the region have registered any case. Even then, we have done all that is required already to stem possible spread in the country,” said Mochache.

As of 21 May, 13:00, 92 laboratory confirmed cases, and 28 suspected cases of monkeypox with investigations ongoing, have been reported to WHO from 12 Member States that are not endemic for monkeypox virus, across three WHO regions (Table 1, Figure 1). No associated deaths have been reported to date.

Monkeypox is a rare disease that is caused by the monkeypox virus. The virus belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus in the Poxviridae family.its now our responsibility to be keen and ensure that the virus does not sneak into our country,but how,the government is yet to set the rules that will gorvern as overcome and hinder the penetration of this very virus.
