Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho has broken the silence on the Huduma Namba program. Kibicho has said that those individuals who missed registering for Huduma Namba in the first phase will have an opportunity to do so in the second phase of mass registration.
On his appearance before a Parliamentary committee on Wednesday,16 Kibicho said that the second phase will commence soon and e-cards issued before the end of the year.
The program was rolled out on April, 25 and ended May, 29 last year, and was allocated Ksh.18 billion and Kenyans have been wondering what might have happened of it. Kenyans have been questioning the credibility of the exercise which came to a conclusion last year.
According to Kibicho preparations are almost complete and the production of the cards will commence by December 2020.
“All the data of those who took part in Huduma Namba has been merged and cleaned up, we have created a state of the art datacenter… we had to create both the redundancies and data center that we would be sure keeps this data safe.”
Kibicho said that the e-card will have all the data merged and installed in an electronic chip and Kenyans will no longer need documents like the identity cards, NSSF and NHIF.
Kibicho who was in the company of ICT counterpart, Jerome Ochieng said that the Huduma Namba program as at now is in an adjudication process which is aimed at ensuring captured fingerprints march the ones in the real database.
