Four people were shot dead on the evening of Thursday, 25th  in Migori County after armed thugs invaded Isebania Police Station.

According to a police report on the incident, a violent mob driving in a pick-up car arrived at the station escorting a body of a man that was being moved by police from St. Akidiva Mindira Mabera Hospital mortuary.

Upon arriving at the station, the goons are said to have machetes and stones which had been stashed in the pickup and went ahead to invade the station.

“They smashed the windows of the station arsenal, OCS office and other offices with stones. They started destroying the gates of the cells demanding the release of all prisoners in custody,” said a police officer.

Police officers were then forced to use live ammunition after the group overrun the report office, and armoury and were now headed for the cells to apparently free the locked-up inmates.

“Unfortunately this resulted in the death of four unidentified goons,” adds the police report.

Police were forced to use tear gas and fire blanks at the goons to disperse the defiant mob from the police station.

One police officer who was guarding the armoury sustained injuries on the right eye and other bodily injuries after being beaten by the mob.

The bodies of the four suspects shot to death at the station were moved to St. Akidiva Mindira Mabera Hospital mortuary.
