Deputy President Dr. William Ruto on Wednesday led Kenya Kwanza campaigns in Kisii county, a day after Azimio-One Kenya led by Raila Odinga toured the county.
In the rally, Ruto popularised his Bottom Up Economic model stating that it is a model meant to fight poverty in the country.
Speaking at Suneka market in Bonchari constituency, the leader of Kenya Kwanza coalition defended his economic model, terming the trickle down model to have been tried and failed in countries like United States of America.
However, Ruto blamed his competitor Raila Odinga for focusing on changing the constitution instead of creating employment opportunities for the youth who are suffering.
“Bei ya vyakula imepanda, kwa vyovyote lazima tupunguze gharama ya maisha nchini Kenya. Wananchi wengi wanalala njaa, na kuna wale viongozi hawajui kulala njaa ni nini, hawajawahi kutembea bila kiatu, wanasoma njaa kwa magazeti. Ninataka niwambie mwaka huu lazima tutabadilisha,” said Ruto.
Speaking at the rally, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi blamed the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga for the increase of food and fuel prices.
Musalia said since the duo sidelined Dp William Ruto, the Kenyan economy developed a problem, hence pressing lives of Kenyans. Therefore, he asked a vote for Kenya Kwanza Presidential candidate William Ruto who he assured shall change the economy.
“Sisi tunasema kupitia kwa serikali ya Kenya Kwanza, lazima tubadilishe maneno ili wakenya wapate nafuu na uchumi ianze kurudi chini.” Musalia said.
On his side, Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula echoed the same, that choosing Kenya Kwanza for presidency is choosing low fuel prices, affordable food prices, affordable housing and tax reliefs.
Wetangula said the Kenya Kwanza government will be determined to lower the price of fertiliser from Kshs. 6000 to Kshs.2000.
The Kenya Kwanza brigade toured Kisii county, starting from Nyamache in Bobasi, Kenyenya in Bomachoge Borabu and at Itierio in Bonchari constituency
