Several persons from Tigania East in Meru County have been confirmed dead after being assaulted by accused camel herders from Isiolo County, according to local media reports.
Following the event on Wednesday night, some others’ locations are still unknown, according to Area Chief John Mamira.
There have been reports of masked men ambushing and killing Tigania herders in their manyattas in the northern grazing zone, but this has not been confirmed.
Tigania shepherds, who have long complained to security personnel about suspected theft and deaths on their territory by camel herders, prompted the raid.
