Breaking News: Dr. Alfred Mutua ditches Azimio La Umoja and Joins UDA

Written by on May 9, 2022

Governor Alfred Mutua of Machakos has left the Azimio La Umoja alliance and joined the Kenya Kwanza coalition, chaired by Deputy President William Ruto.

Dr. Mutua told the press on Monday, “we have signed the agreement on Sunday night,” and he has copies of it, unlike in Azimio.

Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi’s Pamoja African Alliance party and MCC, both of which had written to her office to indicate their decision to quit the Azimio Coalition, were verified by the Registrar of Political Parties Anne Nderitu on Monday morning.

“Only two requests (from parties seeking to quit the Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party) have been received,” Ms. Nderitu told the Media on the Day Break program; the Maendeleo Chap Chap and the Pamoja African Alliance.

According to the MCC party, the Azimio la Umoja problems have hindered them from accessing or understanding the provisions of the coalition agreement.

There are no Azimio line-ups or campaign plans or funds available to us as a political party.” We have also not been shown or permitted to explain our duties following the elections,” Mutua stated.

We have received a clear message from this lack of clarity and the sidelining: akufukuzaye hakwambii toka.”

Recently Mutua has expressed his frustration with several challenges inside the coalition of Raila Odinga, including difficulties in receiving a copy of the Azimio coalition agreement that was submitted to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties for registration.

After signing the Azimio coalition agreement with the ORPP, “the registrar of political parties (ORPP) has refused to provide us with the document,” Mutua tweeted on Friday, May 6.

During today’s Governing Council meeting, the MCC party determined that they would take the matter to court in order to see whether any adjustments had been made.” Having to go to court to acquire what should be ours automatically is a drawback of our coalition arrangement.”

Mutua expressed concern that the aforementioned lack of openness might lead to a last-minute exclusion of certain candidates from the August elections.

The party’s governing council will make a decision “on the way ahead” on Monday, May 9, he said.

I’d want to know what they’re playing. It’s expected that the party will make a choice about the future on Monday, May 9, 2022, in light of the planned exclusion of our party candidates and the law’s deadlines, “Mutua made the comment.

He concluded by saying: “Aspirants in Azimio’s political parties face a clear and present threat of being denied the democratic chance to appear on the ballot. This is unacceptable.”

He was one of the leaders that welcomed Mutua into Kenya Kwanza’s camp, claiming that his arrival was a guarantee of success in the August elections.

“Congratulations Maendeleo Chap Chap and PAA political parties for joining the Kenya Kwanza Alliance Coalition. As a result of your contribution, KKA will be even more confident of success in the general elections on August 9th. Hongera.” Moses Wetangula tweeted early Monday morning ahead of Mutua’s announcement
