CORRUPTION SHOCKWAVE IN NYAMIRA: County Assembly Clerk Arrested in Sh30 Million Office Block Tender Fraud!

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested Nyamira County Assembly Clerk Duke Simeon Onyari and several others regarding a Sh.30,187,396 tender fraud. The arrest is tied to irregular procurement for a county assembly office block, identified as Tender No. CAN/T/027/2017–2021.
The investigation reveals the contract was illegally awarded to Jetta Builders Limited, which was not the lowest bidder, causing significant loss of public funds. The case, listed as Court Case No. MCCGCR E001 of 2026, alleges a deliberate, fraudulent scheme in the tendering process.Further investigations have implicated 5 additional senior county assembly officials, including the Finance and Legal Services Directors.
The suspects face charges including abuse of office and failure to comply with public procurement laws.Following failed attempts to secure anticipatory bail, the individuals were processed at the EACC South Nyanza Regional Office. The EACC is pursuing full recovery of the funds as the investigation into the county leadership intensifies.
