Section residents of Kajiado West sub-county are appealing to the National Environmental Management Authority (NEMA) to take action to stop the pollution of Kiserian River.

The residents have said that the river has been turned into a dumping site.

“The river is filled with garbage,” said one of the residents. You will find all sorts of waste in the river, from diapers to kitchen waste,” added the resident.

Several residents fetch water from the river for domestic purposes and the pollution has proved to be a health hazard.

Livestock also rely on water from the river, as well as farmers who use water from the source for irrigation.

Vegetables are majorly grown in Kiserian for commercial use.
